🐾 Esther Update 🐾
Our sweet Esther is still fighting, and critical but we finally have a little bit of encouraging news.
After reviewing her bloodwork and X-rays, her veterinary team believes Esther is also battling Hepatozoon, in addition to heartworm disease and Ehrlichiosis. This is a serious tick-borne disease and probably the cause of her extremely high white blood cell count, anemia, and the changes seen on her X-rays.
Her antibiotics have now been changed to clindamycin, and today she received a packed red blood cell transfusion to help her body while the medications begin fighting these infections.
As of 8:30 p.m. tonight, Esther is showing slight improvement following her transfusion and new medications. It is still very early, but we are so thankful to see even this small step in the right direction.

PLEASE PRAY FOR ESTHER ! Michelle had to take her back to Willowbend Animal Hospital again - she seemed to be regressing. Sadly her labs weren’t good she has been hospitalized again. Her white blood cell count is not much better but her red blood cell count is bad she is very anemic. They are working her up to decide the plan. Please pray for her and Michelle we all love this girl so much already. She has to fight - she didn’t make it this long to not get the happily ever after !! Esther is a warrior !! Keep praying!! We prayed so hard ALL OF US you all included that she would decide to fight along with us for her future. Judging by her condition when Michelle found her she sure had no reason to want to people had not been kind to her before. She’s about a year old her body looks like she’s had at least a litter before ( pups prob taken and she was left behind 💔😭) her ears are ate up from flies she’s got scars on her body probably from trying to fight off other strays from either food or when she was in heat 😭. Then her body gave up on the side of the road. Michelle went to get her without a plan then I saw her and knew she had to be part of SNAR it’s three years since I lost my heart and soul dog Annie and she was a beautiful black dog. Saving Esther how we can pay tribute to the dogs we get / got to love because of rescue!! Esther got to go home with fluids and meds since the vet hospital was closed today she will return tomorrow she’s far from out of the woods but she definitely seems to want to be with Michelle and not alone. She’s eating and drinking AND SHE PICKS UP HER HEAD TO SHOW MICHELLE SHE IS READY TO FIGHT FOR HER FUTURE !! We are going to fight with her. Her bill before repeat labs and studies is growing but we know we will figure that out. Please keep praying for Esther !! A few weeks ago, a kind-hearted independent rescuer came across a heartbreaking sight six tiny puppies, only about 3-4 weeks old, abandoned on the side of a rural road with no mother anywhere in sight.
She searched, she waited, but their mom never came. She knew she couldn’t leave them there.
She scooped up all six babies and got them to safety before reaching out for help.
When they arrived, they were in rough shape. They were covered in worms, underweight, and fighting just to survive. Despite everyone’s best efforts, two of the six precious babies sadly didn’t make it. 💔
The four remaining pups have been little fighters every single day.
Over the past two weeks they have:
🐾 Been dewormed twice
🥛 Been nourished with goat’s milk
🥣 Graduated to wet puppy food
💚 Started probiotics
Today they are approximately 5–6 weeks old, active, playful, eating well, and giving us so much hope for the future.
